Spritzers & Mists
These are easy to make, and can be used in a variety of ways--as a facial mist, body spray, room spray, or as a fresh-scent pick-me-up for linens, pillows and clothing. Floral essential oils, such as rose, lavender, chamomile, geranium, jasmine, and ylang ylang are especially pleasant choices, although virtually any of your favorite scents may be used.
To make, combine 4 oz. of distilled water with essential oils in the following amounts:
· For facial mists: 8–10 drops
· For body sprays: 30–40 drops
· For room sprays: 80–100 drops
Pour the mixture into a bottle with a spray-mist cap, and your present is good to go! You could make a Gift Mist Trio with scents to suit different moods.
Sachets
Sachets can be kept in a host of places to provide a cleansing, soothing and refreshing scent, including linen closets, car glove boxes, and office desk drawers. If you have someone on your list who travels extensively, a sachet that can be kept in the suitcase is an excellent gift idea to keep clothes smelling clean and fresh while on the road--and to bring a scent reminiscent of home along with them. Home away
Give frequent travelers a pair of essential oils to help combat the effects of jet lag and irregular schedules. Choose an oil designed to relax (lavender or chamomile) and another to rejuvenate (peppermint, sweet basil, or nutmeg). Pack with some linen handkerchiefs, and a note that suggests placing one to two drops of oil onto the handkerchief and inhaling. Mention too that a few drops of essential oil can also be placed in the bath or on the light bulb of the hotel lamp for the same desired effects.
