Chinese five-spice is a spice mixture of five spices, used primarily in Chinese cuisine. When seasoning crunchy, baked peanuts, the five tastes -- sweet, sour, bitter, salty and hot -- linger on your taste buds, allowing you to soak in all the flavors and nuances of each bite.
1. Preheat oven to 205 degrees.
2. Combine water, salt and powder. Heat until very hot. Add peanuts and mix well.
3. Spread entire mixture into a roasting pan and gently toast (50 to 70 minutes), stirring often.
