Mike has been a part of the natural food industry since 1977,
when he opened his first health food store. Four years later, he introduced natural
foods to conventional supermarkets. In 1988, Mike started the natural foods brokerage
company Natural Specialties, Inc. and grew it to be the largest sales and marketing
organization in the industry. He sold the company to Acosta and followed it there to
continue building it. After serving on the Acosta executive leadership team, Mike
retired in 2006. He currently manages a variety of investments, serves on the board
of a new company, and does service work for his church. Mike and his wife of 40
years, Beverly, have an avid interest in natural products and herbology. They have
five grown children and seven grandchildren.
