Frontier has a tradition of sustainability
in both our own actions and our support of other organizations. We
have
established
an employee-friendly workplace, respected the environment and the
grower communities in our operational decisions, and championed organics
and sustainable agriculture throughout the world.
Frontier is a past winner of the Socially Responsible Business Award presented at the Natural Products EXPO. The award was based on outstanding performance in six categories, including community involvement, education, health, employee empowerment, environmental awareness and responsible purchasing.
We maintain a variety of responsible
programs in our everyday business—like using recycled
paper in our printed materials, recycling cardboard and other materials
from our operations, and maintaining a re-established tallgrass
prairie at our Norway site.
We have led the industry in developing
sustainable cultivation methods for medicinal herbs that had their
native populations threatened by wildcrafting—from a project
that increased cultivated sources for goldenseal to the creation
of a major herb research center.

An ongoing
area of emphasis for Frontier is the sourcing of sustainably
produced products. We carry a wide selection of Fair Trade Certified™
products and have our own sustainability certification program, Well
Earth.

One of our recent
product intitiatives was finding a sustainable source
of sandalwood essential
oil as pressures mount on India sandalwood production.

And we give back 1% of the sales
of our all-organic spice brand, Simply Organic, to the support
of
organic farming causes.
Efforts like these, along with our contributions to a wide range of social and environmental organizations, reflect Frontier's commitment to conduct business in a way that positively affects the world around us and lets our customers feel good about supporting us.
