TransFair USA is one of 21 world-wide members of Fairtrade Labelling Organizations International (FLO), an operation based in Germany that certifies and promotes Fair Trade in North America, Europe and Japan.
TransFair USA tracks transactions between companies in the United States that offer Fair Trade and their international supply sources. Products are audited from farm to finished product to verify compliance with Fair Trade criteria, including that farmers are being paid an above-market price and that part of the growers' profits are being used for socioeconomic development. When all criteria and standards have been met, the Fair Trade Certified™ label is affixed to products available for sale in the United States.
