NORWAY, Iowa (October 4, 2002) — Frontier Natural Products Co-op of Norway, Iowa, a leader in the natural products industry, today announced the closing of its Boulder, Colo., offices and the reestablishment of its corporate headquarters in Norway. Additionally, the company has filled a number of key management positions, bringing back several company veterans. These moves signal a strategic decision to return to Frontier's traditional strength and founding values, according to Frontier Interim CEO and Board Member Andy Pauley.
"The additions to our new management team include key individuals who led Frontier during the strongest years of growth and accomplishment," Pauley said. "Returning the corporate headquarters to Norway also reflects the Frontier boardÍs decision to focus future efforts on marketing our core businesses. Our long-term employee and management pool is based in Iowa, so it only made sense for us to bring the headquarters back here, too."
Tony Bedard, a 10-year veteran and previous interim CEO of Frontier, returns as vice president of operations to solidify Frontier's base of efficient, quality-driven operations. And, Bill Kooistra returns as vice president of finance, providing the sound perspective of a 23-year career in co-operative finance to the company.
To revitalize one of FrontierÍs core businesses, herbalist Kathy Larson recently has returned to head up bulk herbs and spices. With over two decades of experience at the company, Larson was a key player in the development of Frontier's industry track record in quality and organic products.
Clint Landis, who in his previous position as aromatherapy brand manager developed Aura Cacia into the industry's leading aromatherapy line, recently rejoined Frontier to direct marketing of the Frontier, Simply Organic and Aura Cacia brands.
Pauley noted that the Frontier team is completing its short-range business plan. "With the strength and experience of our new management team, we are now moving forward confidently with exciting business plans for the next year," he said.
Frontier's plans include continued emphasis on its innovative Simply Organic® convenience-based product line. "Already in 3,000 natural-foods and conventional-grocery retail outlets nationwide, Simply Organic is the right family of products at the right time," said Pauley. "At Frontier, weÍre making organic products widely available to a variety of people, from dedicated organic shoppers to conventionally oriented consumers interested in trying organic foods."
Along with revitalizing bulk products, Frontier also will concentrate efforts toward Aura Cacia® brand aromatherapy products, its bottled spice business, and its distribution businesses. Frontier's national sales team is focusing on continuing to expand distribution of the Simply Organic line as well as the Aura Cacia line of personal care products and its bulk products.
