Spicy Hummus
Our hummus recipe melds flavors from the "Big Easy" with those from Asia to create a delightfully delicious hummus that will leave family and friends humming a Dixieland jazz tune.
1 can (15 ounces) chickpeas (garbanzo beans)
2 tablespoons
lemon juice 1 tablespoon tahini
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 package
Simply Organic Black Bean Seasoning Mix 1/2 teaspoon
crushed red pepper Drain chickpeas, reserving liquid.
Combine chickpeas, lemon juice, tahini, olive oil, and Black Bean Seasoning Mix in a blender or food processor. Add ½ cup of the reserved liquid. Blend for 3 to 5 minutes on low until thoroughly mixed and smooth. Gradually add a little more liquid as needed to reach desired consistency.
Place in serving bowl. Garnish with crushed red pepper. Serve immediately or refrigerate for up to 3 days.
Serve with pita bread, bagel chips, or carrots.
Use as a sandwich spread.
Add additional olive oil if hummus appears too dry.
