Fancy Tomato Sauce

Ingredients
2 tablespoons olive oil
1/2 cup chopped onion
1  clove garlic, finely chopped
1/2  green bell pepper, diced
1  bay leaf
1/4 cup tomato juice
1/8 teaspoon celery salt
1/8 teaspoon rosemary, ground
1/8 teaspoon thyme, ground
1/4 teaspoon oregano, ground
1/4 teaspoon basil, ground
1/4 cup tomato paste
Directions
Heat oil and sauté onion and garlic until tender. Add pepper, bay leaf, and tomato juice. Simmer for 15 minutes.

Mix together celery salt, rosemary, thyme, oregano, and basil. Add to sauce along with tomato paste. Simmer for 20 minutes.
Chef Suggestions
This sauce is good on pasta or in casseroles.
