Martha's Favorite Poker Party Dinner
Martha Frankel, author of Hats and Eyeglasses, a memoir about a life-long love affair with poker, shares her favorite meal for poker night, easily made in a slow cooker.
Ingredients
Slow-Cooked Pulled Pork and Rub
1 4-5 lb pork shoulder butt
2 tablespoons salt
2 tablespoons brown sugar
2 tablespoons sugar
2 tablespoons cumin
2 tablespoons chili powder
2 tablespoons black pepper
2 tablespoons cayenne
4 tablespoons paprika (smoked if desired)
1 1/2 cups white vinegar
1 tablespoon sugar
4 tablespoons tabasco

Cole slaw
1 bag chopped cabbage
1 bag julienned carrots
1 1/2 cups mayonnaise
1/2 cup white vinegar
1/3 cup sugar
1 tablespoon celery seed

Directions
Mix ingredients for rub, rub on pork roast. Cook in slow cooker for 8 hours. Put in bowl, shred with two forks. Mix the vinegar, sugar and tabasco, pour over pork.
For cole slaw, mix all ingredients together, pour over cabbage, let sit for an hour before serving.
