Tar Heel Barbecue Sauce
Ingredients
1 cup apple cider vinegar
1/2 cup water
1 bay leaf
2 tablespoons peanut oil
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon black pepper
1 1/2 teaspoons red pepper flakes
1 teaspoon sugar
1 garlic clove, crushed
2/3 teaspoon thyme
1 cup minced onion
2 1/2 teaspoons dry {mustard}
5 teaspoons cold water
1/2 cup water
1 bay leaf

5 teaspoons cold water
Directions
Mix all ingredients except mustard and water in a saucepan. Bring to a quick boil, then simmer 5 minutes. Remove from heat.
Dissolve the mustard in the cold water, then thin with some of the hot vinegar sauce. Mix the mustard into sauce.
Let cool, and store in the refrigerator.
