Magic Microwave Poached Pears
You'll be amazed that you can make this truly elegant dessert in a dorm room.
Ingredients
2 cups dry red wine
1 cup sugar
pinch ground cloves
pinch ground ginger
pinch ground cinnamon
1 bay leaf
4 black peppercorns
2 firm pears
4 small scoops vanilla ice cream

Directions
In a microwavable bowl, mix together the wine, sugar, and spices; microwave for 4 minutes.
Peel the pears and cut in half lengthwise. Carefully remove the cores with a melon baller. Place in the wine.
Cover and microwave the pears for 6 minutes, flipping them halfway through. Remove the pears and cook the liquid for 3 minutes. Cool the pears and the liquid.
Top the pears with syrup and top with scoop of ice cream.
