Caraway Cake
Ingredients
5 eggs, separated
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 1/4 cups {sugar}, divided
1 cup butter or margarine, softened
1 2/3 cups cake flour
2 teaspoons caraway seeds
1 teaspoon lemon extract
powdered sugar

Directions
Preheat oven to 300 degrees.
Beat egg whites and salt until foamy. Gradually beat in 1/2 cup of sugar until peaks form; set aside. In a separate bowl, cream butter and remaining sugar until light. Beat in egg yolks one at a time. Add flour, caraway seeds, and lemon extract. Mix well. Fold in egg white mixture. Spoon into a greased tube pan and bake at 300 degrees for 65 to 70 minutes. Dust with powdered sugar before serving.
