Frontier Co-op Receives Bronze Anthem Award for Breaking Down Barriers to Employment Initiative

NORWAY, Iowa, February 16, 2024 –  Frontier Co-op, a leader of sustainably sourced and organic spices, herbs, botanicals and plant-based products, has been selected as a Bronze Winner in the Diversity, Equity & Inclusion: Corporate Social Responsibility & Community Engagement category for the 3rd Annual Anthem Awards.

The win recognizes Frontier Co-op's Breaking Down Barriers to Employment initiative which helps employees and community members overcome systemic barriers to employment and economic mobility by providing access to childcare, transportation, second chance hiring practices, apprenticeship, and other programs to support employee holistic wellbeing. Launched in 2017, the long-term initiative not only advances Frontier Co-op's commitment to social responsibility, but also serves as an innovative recruitment tactic that allows the company to meet staffing needs and contributes to a more diverse workforce.

“The Breaking Down Barriers to Employment program has been a cornerstone to empowering our workforce, and to our core belief that doing good, works,” said Tony Bedard, Frontier Co-op CEO. “This recent acknowledgement further reinforces that we can and should use our businesses as a source for good.”

By amplifying the voices that spark global change, the Anthem Awards define a new benchmark for impactful work that inspires others to act in their communities. This year’s Anthem Award Winners were selected from a pool of over 2,000 submissions from 44 countries by the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences (IADAS).

“The Anthem Awards were born out of the desire to amplify and celebrate the voices that are creating sustainable change and to inspire others to take action,” said Patricia McLoughlin, Anthem Awards General Manager. “In a year where so much is at stake, it is incredibly important to recognize impact work and celebrate the progress happening globally. Congratulations to all of this year’s Winners.”

A portion of program revenue is allocated to the Anthem Award’s grant program, The Anthem Fund. This year the Anthem Fund partnered with Billion Oyster Project to support their work to restore and conserve New York’s waterways.
