Norway, Iowa (June 18, 2015) — Frontier Co-op has released new package design for its Frontier Co-op brand of bottled herbs, spices and extracts highlighting the coop's commitment to quality and to sustainable sourcing around the world.

"Each hand-drawn label tells a specific story behind each spice highlighting its source, unique flavor profile or the ways Frontier Co-op is working to improve the lives of our farmers and their communities," said Brett Karminski, senior brand manager for Frontier.

"Allspice is great example," Karminski added. "It's a win for us because of its superior flavor, but it's also a win for the small co-op farmers in Guatemala who get a market with fair prices for their great product. Our new label highlights these facts with a nod to the spices' premium quality and taste."

Other examples include Frontier's new label for whole black peppercorns highlighting the peppercorn's Malabar Grade 1 (MG1) quality grade. MG1 is the highest quality grade for peppercorns from the Malabar Coast of India where they are sourced. The brand's Cayenne label now communicates its heat measurement of more than 75,000 Scoville heat units.

Frontier's new package design also highlights the brand's nearly 40-year commitment to quality by clearly stating that each product is free of genetically modified organisms (GMOs), ethylene oxide (ETO) and irradiation. Frontier Co-op employs a state-of-the-art steam pasteurization process allowing pasteurization to be done effectively using short exposure times and at lower temperatures — so there is minimal impact on the taste, color and aroma of the product.

Bottles with the new label design will begin arriving in stores later this summer. Learn more about the stories behind Frontier Co-op spices at http://stories.frontiercoop.com.
