Matcha Mug Cake

These easy-to-make confections are perfect for parties or situations that call for single-serving cake at a moment's notice! Simply add the batter to mugs and then microwave.


  • 1/4 cup Frontier Co-op Cane Sugar

  • 1 teaspoon Frontier Co-op Japanese Matcha Green Tea Powder

  • 1 pinch Frontier Co-op Sea Salt

  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour

  • 1/4 cup milk

  • 1/4 cup vegetable or peanut oil

  • 1/4 teaspoon Frontier Co-op Vanilla Extract

  • 1 teaspoon powdered sugar


    1. In a medium mixing bowl, combine all dry ingredients except powdered sugar. Mix together with a fork.

    2. Add milk, oil and vanilla extract and mix with a fork until smooth.

    3. Fill mugs half-way. Microwave each cup individually on high for 90 seconds.

    4. Sprinkle powdered sugar on top and allow to cool for 2 to 3 minutes before serving.
