Yes, chickpeas already have a nutty taste, but the addition of almonds gives this dip a deliciously different spin. Chips and breads are good dippers for hummus, but get out your fresh veggies, too. And of course it makes a tasty sandwich spread.

  • 1 cup cooked chickpeas

    1/3 cup tahini

    ¼ cup ground almonds

    2 tablespoons olive oil

1 teaspoon Frontier Co-op Garlic Granules

    ¼ cup water

1 tablespoon Frontier Co-op Parsley Flakes

    1/8 teaspoon Frontier Co-op Cayenne

    1 to 2 dashes tamari

Frontier Co-op Sea Salt, to taste

Frontier Co-op Black Pepper, to taste

Combine all ingredients in a food processor or blender until smooth. Serve at room temperature, or cool.

For appetizers, you might make open-face hummus tea sandwiches topped with a halved cherry tomato.
