Smoked Rice Burgers

Smoky hickory and salty tamari pair to create a hearty vegetarian meat alternative -- a rice burger. When combined with eggs, carrot, onion and tamari, the brown rice sticks together and can be easily molded into patties. Serve on bun or as a lettuce wrap.


  • 2 cups cooked brown rice

  • 1 teaspoon Frontier Co-op Parsley 

  • 1/2 teaspoon tamari

  • 1 carrot, grated

  • 1 onion, grated

  • 2 eggs, beaten

  • 2 teaspoons Frontier Co-op Alder Smoked Salt 

  • Some flour, as needed (at least 1/4 cup) 


    1. In a bowl, combine rice, parsley, tamari, carrot, onion, eggs, and alder smoked salt. Add flour, beginning with 1/4 cup, until thick enough to form patties.

    2.  Form into 6 patties.

    3. Fry or grill until golden brown on both sides.
