Shiitake Mushroom Rice

A protein-filled take on cooked rice, this recipe features the meaty texture and great umami flavor of shiitake mushrooms. Serve this side dish as is or add vegetables or meat for a more well-rounded meal.


  • 1 cup rice

    3 cups reconstituted Frontier Co-op No-Chicken Broth Powder, or chicken broth

    1 onion, chopped

    1 cup Frontier Co-op Shiitake Mushrooms

    1 tablespoon butter

    1/2 teaspoon Frontier Co-op Ground Sage


    1. Cook 1 cup of rice in 3 cups of chicken broth, following package directions. 

    2. Cut shiitake mushrooms to bite sized pieces.

    3. Sauté onion and shiitake in butter for 15 minutes.

    2. Add rice and sage and cook until rice is thoroughly warmed.
