Chocolate Hummus

An easy, dessert-like dip using chickpeas as the base but made sweet with the help of cocoa powder and maple syrup. The end result is a luscious dip that doesn’t taste like chickpeas!

Ingredients

  • 3 tablespoons Cocoa Powder Org with Alkali
  • 1 teaspoon Frontier Co-op Vanilla Extract
  • 1 can 15 oz chickpeas, drained and rinsed
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened almond butter
  • 1/4 (plus 2 tablespoons) cups maple syrup
  • 2 tablespoons sesame oil
  • 1/4 teaspoon Frontier Co-op Table Grind Sea Salt
  • water, for smoothing

Directions

    Combine ingredients for the hummus in a food processor. Puree, adding 1/4 cup of water at a time, until the hummus is smooth. Taste and add more sweetener as desired.

    Transfer the hummus to a bowl and serve with pretzels, strawberries, and apples.
