This homemade elderberry liqueur recipe makes a delightful, warming elderberry cordial for sipping on chilly evenings. Made with dried elderberries, cinnamon and lemon. Well worth the wait!

Minimum 1-month infusion time recommended (though can be drank after a few days). Makes 4 cups of liqueur.

  1. In a quart-size mason jar, combine gin, elderberries, crushed cinnamon sticks and lemon peel granules.
  2. Cover and let steep for at least one month.
  3. When ready to drink, strain using cheesecloth and squeeze out as much liquid as possible. Transfer back to jar along with honey, and stir well before serving.
  1. The liqueur may be enjoyed after a few days of infusing, but will not contain the depth of flavor of a true liqueur or cordial. Longer time also helps meld the flavors and mellow the alcohol’s edginess. We recommend a 1-month minimum, and up to 3 months for best results.
